FOLLOWING THE TRACES OF JOHN PAUL II

 

1ST DAY: ARRIVAL / KRAKOW

Arrival to the Krakow airport. Meeting with a guide / tour leader and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Lunch in a restaurant. Guided tour of Krakow: the Wawel Hill: the Cathedral, the Royal Castle - former residence of Polish kings, the Market Square, the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), the Basilica of St. Mary (Veit Stoss' altar), Collegium Maius (the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University), St. Florian's gate (part of the city fortifications) and Barbicane (an impressive fortress). Dinner and night in the hotel.

2ND DAY: KRAKOW / KALWARIA ZEBRZYDOWSKA / WADOWICE / AUCHWITZ / KRAKOW

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, famous for its Way of the Cross (with arrangement imitating the topography of Jerusalem). Tour to Wadowice - birthplace of John Paul II (visit to his family home and Basilica where he was baptized). Lunch in a restaurant. Departure to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Visit to the former concentration camp. Return to Krakow. Dinner and night in Krakow.

3RD DAY: KRAKOW / WIELICZKA / LAGIEWNIKI / KRAKOW

Breakfast in the hotel. Tour of Wieliczka Salt Mine, inscribed onto the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Return to Krakow. After lunch in a reataurant visit to the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki, consecrated in 2002 by Pope John Paul II. Folk style dinner in a typical Polish restaurant. Night in the hotel.

4TH DAY: KRAKOW / CZESTOCHOWA / NIEPOKALANOW / WARSAW

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Czestochowa. Visit to the convent of Pauline Fathers in Jasna Gora (with the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary). Lunch in a restaurant. Departure to Warsaw. On the way - visit to Niepokalanow - the Franciscan Monastery founded by Maximilian Kolbe. In the evening - arrival to Warsaw, dinner and accommodation in a hotel.

5TH DAY: WARSAW / DEPARTURE

Breakfast in the hotel. Guided visit of the city: the Old Town, the Royal Castle, the Sigmund's Column, the St. John's Cathedral, St. Ana's church, St. Stanislaw Kostka church, ghetto, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Palace of Culture and Science. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon - visit to the palace in Wilanow - the residence of the king John III Sobieski and the Lazienki Park. Transfer to the airport and departure from Warsaw.
